Alwaleed Philanthropies Launches “Orboun Khair” to Encourage Paying Off Store Debts

28th September, 2016

Alwaleed Philanthropies (AP), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, has launched its “Orboun Khair” initiative in partnership with Al-Wafa Women’s Philanthropic Association in Riyadh as part of its commitment to supporting local communities. The campaign kicked off with the start of Eid Al Hajj holiday celebrations, and will run until the end of September.

In light of the campaign’s goals, Alwaleed Philanthropies has helped 315 people who rely on store credit when buying food and basic items for their homes by paying off their debts through Al-Wafa Women’s Philanthropic Association while also establishing a fund to pay off more people’s store debts. Additionally, Alwaleed Philanthropies has also established a fund in Al-Wafa Women’s Philanthropic Association that aims to pay off more people’s store debts. People can support “Orboun Khair” by either visiting the nearest mini-market and paying off other families’ store debts or by transferring money to Al-Wafa Women’s Philanthropic Association’s bank account that is dedicated to raise funds for this campaign in the Saudi Hollandi Bank, account number:  SA3350000000/032141386389.

In the aim of encouraging the spirit of giving and strengthening the bonds between community members, Alwaleed Philanthropies has also launched an online awareness campaign to promote the initiative on all of its platforms. By sharing the concept with its audiences, the foundation hopes to inspire people and other NGOs to carry out acts of kindness and charity in their local communities.

HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed AlSaud, Secretary General at Alwaleed Philanthropies, stated: “I am thrilled that Orboun Khair has received wide coverage and positive feedback.

We hope that this campaign inspires people to carry out individual acts of kindness for their neighbors and communities. These acts may seem small, but they make a world of difference.”

For over 35 years, Alwaleed Philanthropies has supported and initiated projects in over 120 countries regardless of gender, race, or religion. We collaborate with a range of philanthropic, government, and educational organizations to combat poverty, empower women and youth, develop communities, provide disaster relief and create cultural understanding through education. Together, we can build bridges for a more compassionate, tolerant, and accepting world.
