BEIRUT-- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) continued on Monday its humanitarian campaign delivering aid parcels to 450 Syrian refugee families in northern Lebanon.

Head of the society's delegation, Nabil Buftain, told KUNA that field teams delivered parcels laden with food and other supplies to the refugees in Abu Samra district in Tripoli, Lebanon's second largest city located some 80 kilometers north of the capital.

Buftain added that the KRCS' campaign is ongoing to cover needs of Syrian families, settling in various areas of Lebanon, stressing importance of the Kuwaiti Government's keenness to help and provide direct assistance to them at such critical times.

Buftain expressed hopes that such efforts would help in reducing some of the Syrian families' suffering.

Lebanon is hosting more than 1.1 million Syrian refugees, registered by the UN refugee agency since start of the Syrian internal war. However, Lebanese officials estimate their number at more than 1.5 million.
