Global firms keen to invest in Oman’s rail network

MUSCAT — Global companies working in various segments of a railway system are very keen to participate in Oman’s upcoming railway network as when the opportunities arise, said representatives from different countries taking part in the Infra Oman 2014. Mike Elliot, rail business manager, Middle East, Lloyd’s Register, said that we are actively involved in the Etihad Rail and very keen for the government of Oman to make decision on the winners of bids for the railway project. Isabel Parra, trade officer, Embassy of Spain, said top Omani companies are frontrunners for the railway project in Oman and we are waiting for the government to make their decision soon.

Infra Oman 2014, the fourth edition of International trade event for infrastructure & industrial projects was inaugurated yesterday by Mohsin bin Mohammed al Shaikh, Chairman of Muscat Municipality at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, Seeb.

A seminar for construction companies on how to use integrated software applications to control their costs on contracts and provide accurate cost management information was organised by “RedSky IT” yesterday. The exhibition is also enlisted as a UFI member by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), a well-recognised representative body of the international trade fair sector. The exhibition timings of Infra Oman are 10 am — 1 pm and 4:30 pm — 8:30 pm.
