Kuwait holds military funeral for martyrs of Iraqi invasion finally returned home

Kuwait - M E Times Int'l:  His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has addressed cables of condolences to families of the martyrs. The martyrs are: Bader Hussein Murad Al-Kandari, Suleiman Kadhim Qatie Ali Taher, Tariq Mohammad Ahmad Abdullah Al-Yaqout, Abdulrahman Abdulaziz Abdullah Al-Showaimani, Abdulmahdi Abdulhameed Mohammad Maarafi Behbehani, Essa Mohammad Zaman Mohammad, Kamil Abdulrahman Mohammad Nasser Al-Fayez, Mohammad Saad Masoud Al-Ahmad, Mohammad Saleh Mohammad Suleiman Al-Muhaini, Mahdi Habeeb Ali Zaid Al-Boloushi, Mustafa Hussein Ahmad Mohammad Al-Qattan and Yousif Zaid Zamel Saud Al-Zamel. HH Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also sent similar cables.

ON Wednesday, Kuwait held a military ceremony for 13 martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the brutal Iraqi invasion in 1990 after their remains were received from Iraq and their identities were confirmed by genetic analysis.

The masses of mourners presented at the Sulaibikhat cemetery, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of Finance Khalifa Hamadeh, Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Minister of State for Services Affairs Dr. Abdullah Marafi, Minister of Education, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ali Al-Mudhaf, senior military leaders and families of martyrs.

The ministers offered their condolences to families of the martyrs, asking the Almighty to provide them with the breadth of his mercy and to inspire their families with patience and solace.

And they praised the heroism of the prisoners and missing persons who sacrificed themselves for Kuwait and set a great example in patriotism which recorded their names in honour and heroism after they faced death with courage and valour for the sake of their homeland.

DEFENCE Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah expressed his pride in the sacrifices of the Kuwaiti martyrs to keep Kuwait free and proud. Their sacrifice, pride and redemption will remain "a beacon that illuminates for us, and future generations, the paths of work, dedication and devotion to serve our dear country and maintain its security and

stability".

The minister added that the wealth of Kuwait today embraced the remains of its sons "who gave their lives in order to enjoy the blessings of security, safety, pride, prestige and

stability".

"On this occasion, we congratulate ourselves and the families of the martyrs on the honour of martyrdom and eternity for our children in the memory of our nation, which is proud of their heroism and great sacrifices, asking God Almighty to dwell in them in His Spaciousness and to inspire us and their families and the noble Kuwaiti people with patience and good consolation."

The head of the Committee for the Affairs of Prisoners and Missing Persons at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rabih Al-Adasani, said that the fate of 13 martyrs from the prisoners and the missing has been determined by identifying their identities through genetic analysis of the remains that were brought from Iraq.
