Presidency Information Office responds to Democratic Gathering's apology: where is the text that prevents the President from consulting when situation requires?

Lebanon - The Information Office of the Presidency of the Republic issued the following statement:

"The statement issued yesterday by the "democratic meeting bloc" was not worthy of a response had it not included a set of intentional fallacies aimed at offending a rescue step taken by the President of the Republic, evidenced by the fact that the "bloc" apologized for not participating in the consultations before knowing the goal, and classified it as "contrary to principles and bypassed norma. The correct view is that the President of the Republic would not have invited the heads of the parliamentary blocs to consultations were it not for his awareness of the crisis that could arise if the disagreement continued over a number of points related to the formation of the government, then the lineup could not be made and the country would fall under the forbidden.

As for the discussion about overrunning Taif Accord, the MP's of the bloc should tell us where is the text that prevents the president of the country from consulting with the parliamentary blocs when the situation in the country requires so.

The President of the Republic has always sought to protect the country's unity and maintain political stability. And the formation of a salvation government is one of the goals he aimed at through his meetings with the heads of the blocs. If the representatives of the "Democratic Meeting bloc" were keen on the country's supreme interest, they would have participated and defined their position instead of always resorting to the use of phrases repeated by its members, wholesale or separately, with the aim of offending the President of the Republic and his collective role, which is being consolidated day after day, and this may bother them with others who did not see in the country's president's move any positives, so they invented negatives that do not exist in the first place to exclude themselves from the responsibility of consultation, which is inevitable when the conditions are like those in which we are passing through, with the aim of making the appropriate decision.

Finally, it would have been better for the "democratic meeting bloc" to apologize for the false accusations instead of an apology for not coming to Baabda Palace!."--Presidency Press office
