HM Sultan Haitham donates OMR 10 million to fight Covid-19

26/03/2020

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik on Thursday presided over a meeting of the Supreme Committee tasked with studying scopes for tackling coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

At the outset of the meeting, His Majesty the Sultan expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by all government institutions and private sector establishments—health workers in particular—to contain the pandemic.

His Majesty the Sultan reaffirmed that the Government of the Sultanate will spare no effort in addressing the pandemic and limiting its propagation with a view to safeguarding the health of citizens and residents.

His Majesty stressed that these efforts cannot achieve their objectives except through the cooperation of all, citizens and residents, and their compliance with decisions, guidelines and instructions issued by the Supreme Committee.

His Majesty the Sultan instructed the departments concerned to be firm in applying the law in a manner that ensures the abidance of all with collective action to impede the spread of the virus and its permeation in society.

In a personal gesture to support the efforts combatting the pandemic, His Majesty the Sultan donated RO10 million to the Fund established for this purpose. His Majesty valued all initiatives of the private sector and individuals lending support to government efforts to shoulder this national duty.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Majesty the Sultan voiced his thanks and appreciation for the “tangible efforts” of members of the Supreme Covid-19 Control Committee, wishing all health and safety.

His Majesty prayed to the Almighty Allah “to protect all people against all harm, grant quick recovery to patients who caught this disease and bestow His mercy on all mankind by lifting this pandemic so that it (humanity) could regain full health and prosperity.”
