Erdogan announces capturing of Al-Baghdadi's wife
ANKARA-- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his forces captured on Thursday wife of the late chief of so-called Islamic State Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
In a speech he delivered in Ankara on the 70th anniversary of the foundation of Ankara Universityآ’s theology faculty, Erdogan said "the real terorrist targeting innocent civilians in the name of Islam must be identified".
He expressed his rejection to the West's use of the term "Islamic terrorism", noting that "the terrorist is a person who kills people for his own cause and this does not mean that a Muslim is a terrorist".
On Tuedsday, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said security authorities were investigating al-Baghdadi's sister, Rasmiyah Awad, who was arrested with her husband in the northern Syrian city of Aazaz in a security operation carried out on Monday.
President Donald Trump declared, on Oct 27, al-Baghdadi's death in an operation carried by American Forces in northwestern Syria's Idlib province.
