Kuwaiti PM orders putting up islands attached to Jaber causeway for investment


KUWAIT-- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has given instructions to put the islands attached to the recently-inaugurated Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah causeway for investment.

In a press statement on Monday, Government Spokesman Tariq Al-Mazram stated that His Highness the Premier asked the cabinet to take all required legal and administrative measures to speed up the process of offering the two islands for entertainment and touristic investment to specialized companies listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange.

This decision was taken out of a deep belief in the private sector's pivotal role as a partner in developing the economic and tourism sectors in Kuwait and the implementation of the New Kuwait-2035 Vision, he clarified.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Causeway on May 1.

The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Project, one of the country's massive projects going down in history as that fourth longest bridge worldwide.

Sheikh Jaber Bridge shortens the distance between Kuwait City and Subiya area, initially driving 104 kilometers in 90 minutes, to a shortcut of about 37.5 kilometers in less than 30 minutes.

The bridge project including the construction of two artificial islands of 280,000 sq m each; near Kuwait city and the second near Subiya.
