10 Apr 2019

Lebanon - Lebanese Kataeb Party leader, MP Sami Gemayel, said that "the Syrian refugees to Lebanon now constitute about half of the country's population after exceeding 1.5 million, which poses an existential threat to Lebanon, next to economic and social dangers."

Gemayel said during a speech at the General Assembly of the European People's Party that the European Union and the United States should take practical steps to confirm their serious efforts to return the refugees to their country. "A union delegation must visit Beirut and discuss the matter with Lebanese officials, in a serious attempt to find real solutions to the file with the main players in the region."
