After the holy gospel, Father Louis Ferkh, gave a sermon in which he said: "We bid farewell today, to an affectionate and ardent mother, who gave her life to protect her family and secure all that is necessary for her sons Pierre, Daniella and Joanna. We offer farewell to a virtuous mother in-law of two successful businessmen Melhem Ayoub, Daniella’s husband and Richard George Andari, Joanna's husband, who offers his time, experience and relationships to help the monastery to finish building a nursing home for the elderly, which will be ready next May. We gather today to bid farewell to a grandmother of 6 grandchildren: Jonathan, Giovanna, Malcolm, George, Daniella & Christopher
"Nawal left during the holy time of fast... the time of repentance, prayer and the act of mercy... the time of renewal and change” he added. "Everything in this life changes according to the circumstances, but a mother does not change ever... she gives, sacrifices and loves without charge. Dear Daniella, Joanna and Pierre your late mother Nawal was a blessing and a school in giving, humility, joy and fulfillment.”
"I call everyone on this occasion, to honor their parents and mothers and to present one flower to them alive, better than a large bouquet on their grave. Honor your parents… death does not give a warning. Always ask for them, because remorse will not return them back. Mercy of God upon the deceased Nawal, and may her memory be eternal.” Father Ferkh concluded.
Ziad Aswad, MP of Jezzine, sent a message of condolences to the family of the deceased in which he said: "My wife Lamia and I received with sorrow and sadness the news of your loss, mother and educator Nawal your companion, guardian of your solidarity and your family’s Christian faith. She was an example for every Christian woman raised on values, virtues and a good spirit.
