MESSAGE FROM THE PRIME MINISTER

EID AL-ADHA 2018

MESSAGE FROM THE PRIME MINISTER

EID AL-ADHA 2018

I send warm greetings to Muslims in Australia who are celebrating Eid al-Adha.

Eid al-Adha is the celebration of prophethood of Abraham – a figure also central to the

beliefs of Christians and Jews – through charitable acts and prayer for those who are less

fortunate.

Australia is the most successful and harmonious multicultural society in the world and

the Muslim community is an integral part of that. Those who would seek to sow division

amongst us should stand condemned and remain as outcasts in our society.

We are a nation that is united in its commitment to the shared political values of freedom,

democracy and the rule of law. We underpin that with mutual respect for people of every

religion, of every race, of every background.

This Eid, we should reflect on our success and be proud of our achievement in today's

world which is too often riven with division and hate.

I wish you all Eid Mubarak!

The Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP

Prime Minister of Australia
