Rahi From Doha: Lebanon in Need of Politicians Respecting Constitution 20 Apr 2018 Lebanon - Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Rahi on Friday maintained that Lebanon is in need of outstanding politicians who respect the Constitution and work on fighting corruption. "Lebanon is in need of outstanding statesmen who will work on rebuilding national unity," Rahi said, speaking from Doha where he laid the cornerstone for the Saint Charbel Church. "Lebanon needs objective politicians who can work on fighting the spiraling corruption inside the state's institutions and public administrations, and who can devise the required plans to achieve economic and financial developments, and to make the reforms required by Rome and Paris conferences," he added. "Lebanon is in need of politicians who respect the Constitution and the law, and who abide by the judicial decisions and work on implementing them," he continued. The Patriarch also urged the Arab and international communities "to cease the war in Palestine, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen; clinch a comprehensive and permanent peace in the region and secure the return of all the refugees and displaced to their homelands." Rahi arrived yesterday (Thursday) in the Qatari capital, Doha, on a pastoral tour. |
