KUWAIT-- The State of Kuwait and Iraq are keen on boosting ties especially within arts and culture, said Kuwait's General Consul to Basra, southern Iraq, Yousef Al-Sabbagh Wednesday.

According to the Kuwaiti consulate in Basra, this affirmation came during Al-Sabbagh's meeting with a number of cultural officials in the region.

In the statement, obtained by KUNA, Al-Sabbagh said that both countries have a strong history in cultural and artistic cooperation, noting that the current gathering was looking into means to expand cooperation.

Building more cultural bridges will further enhance relations between the two countries, affirmed the Kuwaiti diplomat.

On his part, head of the Basra artists union Fathi Shaddad lauded Kuwait's eagerness to boost cultural and artistic relations with Iraq, indicating that both his nation and Kuwait were looking into means to exchange expertize within these domain.
