TIMES Int'l: The Divine Mercy statue, which was transported from Canada to Lebanon, arrived in the Monastery of Our Lady of Carmel in Hazmieh, on the occasion of the Feast of Mercy, which falls after Easter. A crowd of believers headed by the representative of the President of the Republic General Michel Aoun, Director of Information office of the Presidency of the Republic Mr Rafiq Shalala and a number of political and social figures and the sons of Hazmieh and neighborhood gathered to welcome the statue. A festive mass was held at the Monastery of Our Lady of Carmel, headed by Father Benoit Risha, who gave a sermon explaining the meaning of Divine Mercy in the Church, pointing to "the full forgiveness that is given to the worshipers on the day of the feast." He thanked General Aoun for delegating a representative to participate in the celebration of the arrival of the statue from Canada to Lebanon, wishing him success in his national responsibilities at this delicate stage in the history of Lebanon. Father Risha, conveyed through the President of the Republic representative, the greetings and prayers of the participants so that the Father on the Day of Divine Mercy will enable him to fulfill the “wishes and aspirations of the Lebanese people for a better future for their homeland.” After that, the prayer was made in the courtyard of the monastery in front of the statue, from which the citizens took the blessings. |
